Emma Louise

last night i watched an amazing talent by the name of Emma Louise! she was the support act for Boy & Bear (who were also great) but Emma really was the standout for me. I can't wait for her album to be released. She has a few songs that she has recorded herself on youtube but the clip above is her first official video.

After the gig I actually got to meet her, and her drummer and her parents.
was lovely to be able to tell her how amazing she was in person .... and she's only 19!
we had a bit of a giggle that we have the exact same name :)

press play

Playbutton is a wearable button that plays music: A record that plays itself.
Like an album the sequence of the music can not be altered.

Playbutton pairs the concept of a great album with the classic button pin for the perfect wearable way to listen to music. The front of the button typically features artwork, keeping the album cover relevant while making it easier for bands to distribute and promote their music in a tangible way.

Like an iPod Shuffle (and keeping true to the artist's vision), the songs can't be rearranged but the simple device does have controls to play, pause, skip, and adjust volume, all powered by a rechargeable lithium battery. making for a clever new way to distribute and promote music.

warpaint

Warpaint are a Los Angeles based “psychedelic” band and I’d have to say that description is apt. The acoustic and smoky harmonies of Warpaint’s “Billie Holiday” is a cover, borrowing large chunks of the Smokey Robinson-penned 1964 classic, “My Guy” (a hit for Mary Wells) and rerouting the original’s giddiness to adopt a sort of apathetic haze that’s very much in need of a Xanax, or perhaps the victim of one too many. After one listen to their music, you know you’re experiencing something special. The Echo Park based quartet of Emily Kokal (vocals, guitar), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass, vocals), Theresa Wayman (vocals, guitar) and Josh “Jocelyn” Klinghoffer – have drawn comparisons to Cat Power, Sonic Youth, Mazzy Star and The Slits.

listen to a few of Warpaints songs below...

Nothing you can say,

Can take me away,
From my guy.
Nothing you could do,
'cause I'm stuck like glue,
To my guy.
I'm sticking to my guy,
Like a stamp to a letter,
Like birds of a feather,
We, stick together,
I can tell you from the start,
I can't be torn apart from my guy
