i finally got my Nail Rock nail wraps (stickers) in the mail from Dotti. I blogged in October here about the competition i won and my aztec/tribal design is now printed and in stores. so excited! I put them on my nails last night and they turned out really well! they are a little bit tricky to put on at first but you get the hang of it after a few goes. some photo's below for you to see... let me know what you think!

So excited to share this news with you all! I recently entered a competition to create a nail art design for Nail Rock and Dotti and my design was chosen as the winner!!!! My design will be stocked in Dotti stores across Australia in a few months!

What do you think of my design? I was inspired by geometric prints from the Aztec/Tribal trend & bright, fresh, edgy prints for the summer season.

Nail Rock nail wraps are the new way to adorn fingers and toes. Unlike nail polish they won’t chip or stain the nail and quicker to apply as no drying time required. Too easy!

I have been thinking of ways to freshen up our bedroom / desk area now that summer is on it's way. I'm using pinterest to collect all of my inspiration and finding it a great way to keep all of the images I find in one central place, totally recommend it - it's super easy to use! I'm loving white linen, framed artwork, mood boards, mismatched prints and patterns in pastel pinks and blue's, and shabby chic!

I planning on doing it on the cheap too, so will trying to thrift as much as possible.

Ever since i bought my canon camera a few months back i have found it hard to think of ideas on what to shoot. getting a model or a friend who is willing to let you take a million photo's of them is pretty tough so i have been mostly practicing on my cat.. (lol) but these photographs above are so inventive and beautiful, they motivate me to get out there and experiment!

Some new designs I have been hard at work creating. This is a custom artwork that I was asked to create as a wedding gift. Such a special moment so I wanted to do something amazing! I created a magical forest wonderland around the couple and used a green and blue colour scheme that the couple had mentioned that they like. I based the illustration on a photograph that was sent to me by the groom's sister and the lyrics come from a song that he will sing at the wedding. I know I don't know these people and they live on the other side of the earth but I feel lucky that I was chosen to create a special gift that they will hopefully keep forever.

I can't believe the amount of online sales at the moment. I have spent hours checking out Topshop, New Look, Market HQ and Asos ... sort of window shopping and looking for bargains and when I saw that the coral Dahlia dress from Asos was on sale for HALF PRICE I had to snap it up. I first saw the dress over on Le Blog De Betty and fell in love with it. I also added a pussy bow blouse to the shopping cart, couldn't resist. Now fingers crossed they fit me!

I found this whole set of pixelated camera images over on Bill Brown's website - ALL FREE!

Bill made 100 pixelated camera illustrations and put them online under a Creative Commons Attribution license - allowing anyone to use, reuse, alter or edit the images in whatever way they saw fit. Me likey!

I love the simplicity of the these. Bill also has a quirky side project where every year he make a video of himself getting my hair cut and talking about the ups and downs of the past year and his goals and wishes for the next. Cool idea :)

last night i watched an amazing talent by the name of Emma Louise! she was the support act for Boy & Bear (who were also great) but Emma really was the standout for me. I can't wait for her album to be released. She has a few songs that she has recorded herself on youtube but the clip above is her first official video.

After the gig I actually got to meet her, and her drummer and her parents.

was lovely to be able to tell her how amazing she was in person .... and she's only 19!

This black velvet turban is my most recent purchase, it's from Casper&Pearl a handmade fashion label just starting out in Adelaide, South Australia. I met Stacey from Casper&Pearl through blogging and bought the turban from her etsy store. When i received it in the post, i opened it to find this gorgeous handmade cross necklace as a gift! so sweet and such a nice surprise. her grandfather cuts up the crosses in his workshop, how adorable is that!

A few pics from my long weekend away at Byron Bay, sorry they are all instagram iphone snaps. I spent 3 days with friends sunbaking, eating great food (mmmm eggs benedict) laughing (one of my friends got pooped on by a bird.. so funny) and shopping. I didn't get that gorgeous bag i posted about but all in all it was an amazing little getaway. We didn't end up in the tepee as planned. there was torrential rain the day we arrived and all the tepee floors were wet and there was NO electricity! it was the 8pm at night and the royal wedding was on (it was televised at night here in Oz) and no hotels were answering there phones. We frantically called as many places as we could to book some last minute accommodation for the 7 of us! thankfully ONE place answered. It all worked out perfectly ... and frankly i dont think ill be slumming it at a backpackers again... i like my own bathroom, nice warm bed and electricity .. thankyou. hehe

Ohhhh-Myyyyyy! i want this bag so badly! I have been searching for a while now for a bag with fringing on it and i could not seem to find any that i like.. until i saw this baby! she's just perfect... the colour, the belt as the strap and the eagle and turquoise stone! It's by a brand called Buffalo Girl who are situated in Byron Bay. They dont have any prices on their website which makes me worried (i bet it's a squillion dollars) I'm actually going to Byron Bay tomorrow for a girls weekend so I might just have to pop in and see how much this is! hey lovelies, this is something new I have been working on for a friend. What do you think? I really enjoy creating fashion illustrations, i wish i could quit my job and just make these everyday. I have had such a great response from busy bee lauren's post, many kind words and a few etsy sales. yay! being part of the blogging community brings me a lot of happiness, im meeting people that i would never have had the chance to. I'm feeling excited for future ventures... the ball is finally rolling wooooo! :)

I wanted to share with you a few photos i've taken on this loooong Easter weekend. Not sure about other parts of the world but here in Australia we had a 5 day long weekend with Good Friday, Easter Sunday then Anzac day. I took my new Canon 550D out for a few snaps around the Sunshine Coast to practice. I still have a lot to learn about photography but i'm happy with how these turned out. I had a lovely few days with my parents and catching up with friends. Getting to the beach is always so relaxing I would sunbake all day if i could. Let me know what you think...

1. I'm a graphic designer and finished uni in 2004 (omg feeling old)

2. My favourite fruit is passionfruit, could eat tonnes of them.

3. Love my cat fi fi so much and would happily quit my job and open a cattery just so i could play with cats all day.

4. Love the beach, nothing like a fresh swim in the ocean. Hope to own a beach shack one day.

Sandra Foster turned a Catskills hunting cabin into the romantic Victorian cottage she had always wanted, using vintage columns, flooring and wavy glass windows, and doing the carpentry herself.

This cottage is only accessible via a stone crossing over a stream. Things always seem cuter in miniature dont they??

I'm loving these artworks created by Alexey Frolov (Russia) so young at only 18 and producing his own typography is just amazing to me. Stumbled up his work through Behance . Definitely worth a look! I seem to be drawn to anything with monocrome hazey colours at the moment just cant get enough.

Louder Than Silence is a blog that documents the life and times of a boy (Ross) and a girl (sally) who live in London town and are a little bit in love with fashion, design, people, culture and music. As well as each other, of course. They share a passion for photography and writing and the blog is a joint effort and focuses on their day to day life

about Sally: obsessive tea drinker who is also partial to an ice cold gin and tonic. Works in fashion PR at a little agency in the west end but is a vintage girl at heart, who loves nothing more than trawling charity shops, flea markets and car boots for vintage gems.

about Ross: music enthusiast and massive typography geek. Designs for print and web at a creative agency called Hello Slate in Hoxton.

Some gorgeous inspiration for your sunday afternoon (or saturday night depending on where you are in the world) These lovely illustrations are by Nadia Flower from New Zealand. Nadia has produced work for clients around the world, and has also appeared in group exhibitions and book publications in Australia ,Tokyo, and the US. I love how fragile, delicate and imaginative her work is. My favourite would have to be one with the fox/wolf hat.

I love all of these posters, each one so different but keeping to her style. Regular readers to my blog know I'm a huge fan of cats so I'd have to say that the "cat princess" above is my fave.

Like an album the sequence of the music can not be altered.

Playbutton pairs the concept of a great album with the classic button pin for the perfect wearable way to listen to music. The front of the button typically features artwork, keeping the album cover relevant while making it easier for bands to distribute and promote their music in a tangible way.

Like an iPod Shuffle (and keeping true to the artist's vision), the songs can't be rearranged but the simple device does have controls to play, pause, skip, and adjust volume, all powered by a rechargeable lithium battery. making for a clever new way to distribute and promote music.

I feel like I'm always posting photos of my cat on my blog lately haha! I swear i do have a life and I'm not a crazy cat lady .. um actually I am a little crazy ... so maybe I am. lol

I finally got an iphone so I'm going a little bit mental taking photos of everything, trying out the apps, different lenses, filters, flashes so much fun. Let me know which one is your fave.

I'm putting together some photo inspiration on how to decorate around my desk/room. I hate clutter, but I don't like a room to be bland, thats just boring!! Things are better with a bit of quirky character. I have a mood board that im going to update with bits and pieces so that if I'm feeling flat i can be inspired by it. I find i save a lot of photo's on my computer but never really get around to printing them out. Must get better at doing that! :P

Fresh out of school Matthew was commissioned by Margeotes, Fertitta & Partners New York to illustrate the Perry Ellis Fall/Winter 2006 campaign, and has been working as a fulltime freelance illustrator ever since.

Matthew lives in Chicago in an apartment that resembles more a natural history museum than a living space. In his free time Matthew enjoys chain smoking, playing Prince covers on banjo, and falling asleep while reading.

Suitcase Rundown

Today was a great success! I sold 5 prints woohoo! It was a beautiful sunny day, but very very windy. So close to having my designs blown across the Brisbane river. This made it very hard for me to set up my work the way I wanted, and I had to keep an eye on my suitcase, umbrella and prints simultaneously... bit tricky. They was this sweet old man near my spot (last photo, on the right) who had a few bits and bobs, he looked so happy sitting there people watching. I had lots of visitors to my little spot throughout the day which was a lovely surprise. Thanks everyone who came and said hello.

These illustrations (for Fila Japan) are by Alex Trochut a freelance designer from Barcelona.

His work pholosophy is "more is more", but he doesn't seem to over-do it

He does a great job at incorporating the human figure into the illustration. He also has a pretty cool website dispalying a huge body of work. check it out here

Etsy Store : Now Open

My Etsy store is now open! woop woop! he he... Feel free to go check it out here. There are a few prints on there at the moment. These are high quality Giclée prints on acid-free Hahnemuhle fine art paper using archival long lasting pigment ink (basically means they will last longer than me.. lol) I wanted to get them printed like this too see the difference between good stock and normal stock. They look really good and if your anything like me, good stock really can make all the difference as far as the look, feel and quality of the print. I might do some smaller sizes, postcards and greeting cards to add to the mix.

When Teddy's away ... Emma and Fifi will play! the boy is at work so we just mucking around on the iMac photobooth. Here are a few funny pics of me and my cute cat.

Double Exposures

Dan Mountford is a 20yr old design student and he has certainly mastered creating double exposure photographs. All of his photos are created in-camera and then are slightly edited in Photoshop (adjusting colors, tones).
